Xen Hypervisor Options

Xen Hypervisor Options

The beroNet Appliance uses XEN as hypervisor core. The beroNet hypervisor starts the VMs in full-virtualization mode, called "HVM" in Xen terminology, some default settings are used when starting the VMs, but additional settings which can affect the behavior and performance of the VM can be supplied by the user. This article describes how to supply such Options.

The main ressource on where to find XEN options is: xl configuration options - man page

One setting that is particularly important for Elastix 2.5 is the "timer_mode" which modifies the behaviour of how CPU ticks are provided to the VM. In order to use the value "delay_for_missed_ticks" you can simply add this setting in the Miscellaneous Settings of the VM like in the following picture:

TIPS:

Make sure to never use double quotes ("), but instead use single quotes (')

You can also add multiple options, by separating them with a semicolon.
