FXO configuration
FXO modules are often used to connect analog lines to an IPBX. In order to know if you need FXO connectivities on your gateway, you can visit our website.
Here are the steps to configure a FXO gateway:
Hardware settings
Go to the "Hardware" tab and choose the country in which the gateway is being installed.
Three other modes can also be chosen: FCC, TBR21, 1TR100_DE.
First, choose the right country mode. If you notice issues on the line, try one of the three above mentioned modes until it works well.
Once you have chosen the right mode, save your settings. You can either activate the configuration directly or do it at the end.
Gateway configuration
FXO Gateways can be configured in two different ways. We call them "Hunt group configuration" or "Single trunk configuration".
Single trunk configuration:
In a single trunk configuration scenario, each analog line is completely independent from each other and need to be configured on its own. This means:
- One group of port in order to configure each line individually
- One SIP account per port in order to connect each line to one SIP account in the IPBX
- Two dialplan rules to connect each line to its corresponding SIP trunk in the IPBX
In the configuration of each port, the DID needs to be specified in order for the gateway to send the right information to the IPBX.
In a hunt group configuration, the DIDs of each line are linked to one main DID. When one line is called, the provider links it to the "main" trunk. The configuration is then easier in the gateway: each analog port can be added in a single group of ports with one CLIP. The group of ports is then connected to the IPBX via a single SIP trunk. Finally only two Dialplan rules need to be created. The configuration is very similar to the set up of ISDN lines via a beroNet VoIP Gateway.
PSTN Configuration
Navigate to "PSTN+ → Analog FXO" and click on "Add". Depending on the configuration scenario you set up, you will have to choose either one or all the FXO ports in the group configuration.
In the port configuration, only a few information need to be configured. I will explain the needed fields here. In order to know more about the rest of the settings, check: 1.3 beroNet OS Web Interface (VoIP Gateways & Cards).
- Group name: Name of the group of port. Important to set a good name as it will be used in the Dialplan
- Ports: ports you wish to add to your group of ports: either one for a single trunk configuration or all of them for the hunt group.
- CLIP: number allocated to the analog line plugged in the configured port. When receiving a call, this will be the number that the caller will have dialed. In the CLIP, you need to enter the number in the format the IPBX is expecting to receive as DID. In a hunt group scenario, you need to enter the main DID that gathers each line. In a single port configuration, you need to enter each DID of each line.
SIP configuration
For the SIP configuration, visit this page: SIP configuration of a beroNet VoIP Gateway
Depending on the configuration scenario you set up, you will need to create either one SIP trunk (hunt group) or several (single trunks).
Dialplan configuration
To configure the Dialplan in the right way, please visit this page: Understanding the beroNet Dialplan
Here you will need to connect each group of ports to the right SIP trunk.
